Navy Apologise For Early Morning Cacophony

Navy spokesman Angela Barker apologised for the cacophony caused two days ago, after Navy personnel left the upperdesk speakers on during the Colours Ceremony.

The ceremony occurs on each ship at 0800 each morning and involves the raising of the ensign.

Fortunately, it wasn't them.

said “The loudspeaker would have been on of the ships which had accidentally left its upperdeck speakers on. I will remind them all to keep them turned off outside of working hours.”

Having said that, just as The Speculator was completing this article, by some ludicrous coincidence exactly the same sounds suddenly emanated from the base again, this time with the call of “Fire, fire, fire.” Hopefully it’s just a drill.
