
Next week’s Devonport Peninsula Community Network Meeting will have representatives of two heritage organisations as our featured guest speakers.
Judy Grieve is a Devonport resident and works as the Mid Northern Area Coordinator for the NZ Historic Places Trust. Her work involves working with local communities, Iwi, private property owners, NZHPT members, Branch Committees and Local Authorities in the Auckland, Hauraki and Coromandel areas to promote the identification, protection, preservation and conservation of the historical and cultural heritage of New Zealand.
Judy will give us an introduction to the NZ HPT and a broad overview of the work they do in the Mid Northern Region.
Representatives of Devonport Heritage will be speaking about their organisation and the role it plays in our community. Devonport Heritage’s mission is”to foster awareness and promote appreciation of heritage features by lectures, discussion meetings, written material, historical studies and any other suitable means.”
The meetingwill be held on Wednesday 8 February, 10 am – noon at the Devonport Library Seminar Room. Morning tea provided.
