The Wilson Homes Trust put on a wonderful day out at its inaugural Gala Day over the weekend. Blessed with a beautiful day, the crowds thronged to the hitherto unknown site and were pleasantly surprised by the picturesque gardens and buildings.
There was plenty for the kids to do, with a super slide, candy floss, soapy slide, coconut shies and hand waxing, while the adults could enjoy the eclectic mix of stalls at the craft market and the music from the small sound stage.
Each attraction had the perfect location; the stage was surrounded by high hedges and fronted with a beautiful clipped lawn for the crowd to languish upon in the sun. The craft market was nestled in among the features of the paved garden, with the rest of the site making way for children’s activities and food stalls.
With the Talent Quest kicking off for the first time this year, and now the Wilson Homes Trust Gala Day having been launched, Devonport and its neighbouring suburbs look set to enjoy an even fuller and more enjoyable summer calendar for the coming years.
