Nicolette Grant has won The Vic Theatre and Devonport Speculator Smurf Colouring Competition. Judges John Davies and Mick Flam from The Devonport Speculator were impressed by the quality of the entries.
Nicolette, aged 7, impressed the judges with her extraordinary ability to stay within the lines. She also stuck a butterfly on, which we thought was pretty cool. Nicolette wins a rare Smurf doll, tattoos and a double pass.
Prizes were also awarded to a mysterious artist known only as “Abi”, whom the judges thought demonstrated “considerable initiative” in coming up with her own completely original Smurf picture. Double passes to Abi.
Finally, the judges were moved by the abstract interpretation of 9 month old Temperance Anderson-Bing, whose Dadaesque use of the “scribble” technique resulted in an almost chthonic representation of the Smurf’s spiritual zeitgeist. Double passes to Tempers.
Thanks to all who participated; The Vic will shortly be in contact with the lucky winners.
