Devonport, you may or may not like rugby, but don’t miss the opportunity to see some great action that kicks off in two days time.
The massive celebrations kick off in style on the Auckland’s waterfront.
The free entertainment starts at 4pm with the arrival of an impressive fleet of Māori war canoes (waka taua), followed by a live haka, and performances from top New Zealand musicians.
First up, Kiwi legend Dave Dobbyn and his band.
After a mayoral welcome and haka on Queens Wharf, the headline act: The Finn Brothers live in concert.
At 7.30pm watch Rugby World Cup 2011 Opening Ceremony from Eden Park live on the waterfront big screens, followed by a Sound and lighting show – featuring Auckland’s biggest and brightest fireworks and light show set to music composed specially for the occasion by Don McGlashan.
Then, Rugby World Cup 2011 kicks-off with New Zealand v Tonga, live from Eden Park on the waterfront big screens.
