Eighteen months ago artist Julie Allen moved to Devonport. Since then she has tutored art for a term at the Community House, worked for 6 months from a studio in the Lake House Arts Centre, organised an art auction to raise funds for the Victoria Picture Palace and has painted several artworks which are now ready for sale.
Julie’s paintings create a sense of pleasure and fun by using colour liberally. Drawing from fauvist, expressionist and impressionist influences, her paintings are alive with energy.
Born and raised in New Zealand, a career in marketing followed. In her 40’s while self employed designing product ranges for international clients, she made the transition to fine art attending art schools in the UK, Italy and Auckland.
Julie has several art awards, won a prestigious business award, has been written about in national newspapers, magazines and Radio NZ dedicated a programme to her life of creativity and business.
Julie’s paintings are hung around New Zealand and the Pacific Islands plus directly decorating the walls of a cafe in Fiji.
Julie’s Studio Art Sale will be held at 12 Church Street Devonport (cottage at the end of the driveway) between 10-3 on 27th August and 3rd September. All are welcome to drop in for a look, a conversation and the chance to buy original art at bargain prices.
