Offshore Powerboat Racing Off Stanley Point Today

The public are advised that the New Zealand Offshore Power Boat Association will be holding an event within the Inner Waitemata Harbour, between Kauri Point, Watchman Island and Stanley Point on the above date. The area is reserved for powerboat racing from 11 am to 3pm on Saturday 9 April 2011.
During these hours, the provisions of Auckland Council Navigation and Safety Bylaw Clauses 3.2 (a) and (b) The 5 Knot Rule are suspended with respect to competing craft and any emergency vessels only.
No vessel may enter into or remain within the reserved area. The course will be marked with large buoys, and patrol vessels will be stationed around the event.
All mariners are warned to navigate with caution during this event and to follow instructions given by Course Marshals.
