North Shore’s First Team got off to a winning start under new coach Dave Coshan’s command with a 3-1 over Warkworth at Allen Hill on Sunday.
The team were looking for a positive start to the season that sees them languishing in the second division for the first time in their long history.
Things didn’t bode well early in the match when a basic back pass was fluffed to allow Warkworth to score within 10 minutes, but English talent Chris Bryson soon saw Shore equal with a stunning solo effort that left Warkworth reeling.
New signing and ex South African international Grant Young made some promising touches, but was subbed mid way through the first half with a knee injury.
With his blistering pace, Bryson threatened on a number of occasions, but Shore suffered from an inability to deliver the final pass to its threatening front men, so it was with some relief a free kick opportunity on the edge of the box in the second half saw Bryson again score, with a marvellous shot that curled into the top right hand corner.
The game finished 3-1 in front of a small but enthusiastic crowd who gave the team a good hand as they left the pitch.
