So last Friday the Masonic was rocking to the music of some of New Zealand’s iconic musos. The night was organised to raise money for the Chirtstchurch Urban Rescue earthquake appeal.
Rikki Morris and his band had the place singing along and dancing for the first set and got everyone in the mood for a fantastic night. The band comprised of: Tony Waine (bass), Steve Clarkson (drums), Eddie Pausma (guitar), Mark Steven (keys) and Rikki Morris on guitar and vocals.
The evening carried on with Tina Cross who looked and sounded incredible, and the performances of Dave McArtney, Harry Lyon and Jordan Luck kept the night going at a great pace. It was so great to hear the audience singing along to every song.
Then Debbie Harwood took the stage with Kevin Bennett on Guitar and Gail Tipene on backing vocals. Debbie blew everyone away with her vocals, especially, Feel Like Making Love. Deb’s set lifted the roof off the Masonic and at the end we were all so hot and exhausted we just had to drink more beer!
To end the evening all the artists crowded the stage and did a couple of songs together. Jordan Luck sang an emotional “Christchurch” which made us all stop and remember why we were there.
Ady Perry worked on the mixing desk for the first half of the evening and Kevin Bennett the second half, Paul Jeffrey mixed for Debs songs and they all made The Masonic sound amazing.
The Masonic did a fantastic job and the boys and girls behind the bar donated their earnings to the cause.
All up $7,000 was raised and we all agreed that it was a fantastic night and wouldn’t it be great to do it on a regular basis?
