A total of $384,772 has been allocated to the Devonport-Takapuna Local Board for the 2011/12 financial year for community projects. The budget is largely made up of opex and capex components, with a small amount ($26k) available for discretionary funding. The remainder ($14k) is legacy budget from the old North Shore council.

The Board also has some say in the allocation of another $799,779, but this is via a sub-committee that includes three other local boards; Kaipatiki, Upper Harbour and Hibiscus and Bays. The budget is legacy North Shore Council funds and is made up of three components;

– Event Sponsorship Fund;
– Strengthening Communities Fund
– Heritage Fund (North Shore Heritage Trust)

In addition to these two budgets, other money is available via a Creative Communities assessment committee of which Devonport’s local Board is a part, along with the rest of Auckland north of the bridge. Jan O’Connor was nominated for consideration to the assessment committee.

Another $180k is also available but is to be allocated by senior council officials to specific programmes, one of which is interestingly named “Financial Assistance for Scheduled Trees.”
