The Speculator’s Cheltenham correspondent reports a bit of a kerfuffle among the shimmering villas of Matai Rd over the weekend.

A house, currently uninhabited because it was undergoing renovations, was the target of a somewhat flagrant break and enter attempt. A woman, in front of several onlookers including our correspondent, attempted for some time to break into the house.

When challenged, she claimed  she was intending to “squat” in the house, and when it was suggested by the various members of the gathering crowd that this sort of behaviour was a bit off, the woman resorted to abuse and foul language.

After some delay the local constabulary arrived, and the woman was last seen being given a bit of a talking to. Her eventual fate is unknown, but one could assume her squatting plans may have suffered a setback.

Hmm, but on the other side of the coin, did any of these Matai Rd people offer the Woman a place to stay?? Probably not!…they help each other down in Christchurch, well of what I saw anyway when I was down there for 3 weeks helping in the communities down there.
