On the back of a limited but well-intentioned consultation process, the Council is at the initial stages of identifying the priorities for Devonport in the Devonport Local Plan.
To give you a flavour of the issues it sees as important and not so important (based upon the feedback from a fairly small group of the community who attended the workshop back in August), The Speculator has published the list of priorities below with the level of interest gauge used by the council.
Points to note:
– An upgrade of the Devonport library is high priority;
– The arts in Devonport are seen as a low priority.
Do you agree with these priorities? Let us know what you think by commenting on this article and we’ll forward the feedback to the Council.
Not included in here is the Marine Square upgrade, which is scheduled to proceed in 2013, somewhat to Chris Darby’s chagrin, who pushed the council officials to speed things up. The project budget is around $5m over three years and will provide the long overdue link between the wharf and Victoria Rd. Full detail on the scheme is available here.
