What would you like to see happening in Devonport to make your community more self-sufficient and resilient?

The Devonport Transition Town is hosting a Sustainable Devonport Action Workshop this Thursday, 27 October at the Devonport Community House in Clarence Street from 7 – 8.30pm. First up, Pippa Coom from the Grey Lynn 2030 movement will be speaking about the successes they have had in Grey Lynn. Then it’s an open space forum where you can share your ideas and start getting involved with local projects.

So far the Devonport Transition Town has been involved with:

• planting fruit trees on public land

• an Energy Efficiency project with the Community House

• exploring options for community gardens and orchards with the involvement of the Devonport Community Garden

So what else would you like to see? Composting, a bike share scheme, food exchange, green screen … come along and meet others who have the same vision and lets get things going!

An event that seems to have been past its date…. that must have been last night.

Fruit tress? Why not? and don’t you just love the spinach in the gardens outside the Vic? Are they there for judicious taking? The Council should warn the locals before they rip them up….

Yes, I messed that up, but if it’s any consolation, I have been punished. – Ed
