Devonstock Fans Chill Out In 30 Degrees

Posted by on Dec 13, 2010 | 4 Comments

The third Devonstock was held on Mt Victoria last weekend, with around 1500 people attending during the course of the day.

The lineup included The Earlybirds, Ruby Frost, Gala Morris, The Psychs, Petra, and Ella & Louis: all local Devonport bands.

Despite the ferocious heat on the Mt Vic summit, which exceeded 30 degrees during the course of the afternoon and ensured all the drummers who played left Mt Vic several kilograms lighter than when they arrived, some in the audience were able to muster the stamina to boogie through most of the acts.

The concert was the brainchild of former Takapuna Grammar student Sam Harper. It was dubbed ‘Devonstock’, a nod to the infamous 1969 Woodstock concert.

This year the reins were been handed over to Youthink Devo, a local youth community forum consisting of 16 local teens who hold monthly meetings  amidst eating pizzas and swapping community ideas, and are led by local community coordinator Maire Vieth.
