UPDATE: Given the body has been identified as that of a local and the Police are saying there are no suspicious circumstances, the Speculator will not be reporting further on this tragic event.

Our hearts go out to the family affected.

Police are investigating after a man’s body was found on Auckland’s North Shore yesterday morning.

The body was found by the waterline on the shore between St Leonard’s and Narrow Neck Beaches by members of the public at about 6.30am.

Inspector Les Paterson told NZPA there was nothing to indicate the death was suspicious.

Inquiries were being made to see if the body was that of a middle-aged man from North Shore suburb of Belmont who had been reported missing.

Local residents reported to The Speculator of seeing 6-7 police cars and an ambulance pulled up next to the reserve on Seacliff Ave on Friday morning.
